6 minute Pan-Seared Chicken Breast Recipe


This recipe is for all my bachelor friends who have limited skills in the kitchen but want to make something nutritious and yummy in few minutes.This is especially good as a pre or post workout meal because it is full of lean protein.

Follow this recipe to the dot and you will never eat rubbery chicken breast again in your life. The trick is in controlling the flame and timing the recipe absolutely. You can use any marinade on the chicken breast.I have given some sample marinades below which can be whipped up in a matter of few seconds with pantry staples.

TSP is short for tea spoon

TBSP is short for table spoon

Indian Marinade-I

  • Turmeric -1/2 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste-1/2 tsp
  • Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder-1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste(suggested-1/2 tsp)

Indian Marinade-II

  • Yoghurt-1 tbsp
  • Turmeric-1/2 tsp
  • Chilli-1/2 tsp
  • Salt-1/2 tsp or to taste

Lemon-Garlic-Herb Marinade

  • Lemon Juice-1 tsp
  • Lemon Segments-3
  • Garlic-4-5 cloves chopped
  • Herbs-Fresh or dried-Dill/Oregano/Rosemery-1 tbsp

Honey Mustard Marinade

  • Mustard-1 tsp
  • Honey-1 tsp
  • Salt-to taste
  • Chilli Flakes-1 tsp

Pan Asian Marinade

  • Peanut Butter-2 tsp
  • Soy-1 tsp
  • Honey-1 tsp


  • Lemon Juice-1 tsp
  • Minced Ginger/Galangal-1 tsp
  • Minced Green Chillies-1 tsp
  • Minced Lemon Grass-1 tsp


The sample recipe i have made today is with  lemon Fresh Dill  marinade.

Pan seared chicken breast with lemon and fresh dill cooked to perfection in 6 minutes

  • 1 Chicken Breast
  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • Lemon Juice-1 tsp
  • Lemon Segments-3
  • Garlic-4-5 cloves chopped
  • Fresh Dill-1 tbsp-chopped
  1. Rub the marinade on the chicken breast.Let it rest for few minutes.
  2. Place a Flat pan on high heat.When you see light smoke rising from the pan it's ready.
  3. Add 1 tsp of oil.Wait for 4-5 seconds. Place the chicken breast on the pan. The heat of the pan is still high(not the highest though). Flip the chicken in exactly 1 minute.
  4. Reduce the flame to medium. Cook the other side on medium flame for 1 minute.
  5. Add 1-2 tsp of water(if the marinade is dry). Cook the chicken covered with the lid of the pan on for rest of the 4 minutes.Add the lemon segments in the 4th minute.
  6. Remove as soon as you hit the 6 minute mark.Switch off the flame.Let the chicken rest covered for 1 minute.

Serve or eat with some veggies on the side for a complete meal.
